GOODWOOD, ON: SCHITT’S CREEK FILMING LOCATIONS

With my recent visit to Toronto, I couldn’t spend time in the area without visiting the town of Goodwood, ON. I think I have made it pretty clear by now that I love the show Schitt’s Creek, and Goodwood happens to be the town where a lot of the filming for Schitt’s Creek was done. Goodwood is only about 40 minutes outside of Toronto and I’m sharing a few of the Schitt’s Creek filming locations for my fellow “Schittheads”.

Cafe Tropical

Cafe Tropical is where the Rose’s eat every meal and is a main spot within the series. The cafe is not an actual cafe in real life but instead a vacant space on the bottom floor and an apartment on top. This building is located right on the corner of Front Street and Durham Regional Highway 47 in Goodwood.

Rose Apothecary

David Rose’s shop, Rose Apothecary, is another popular location in the series. Rose Apothecary is actually a wool shop called Romni Wools and is directly across the street from Cafe Tropical, making it easy when visiting. The address of the building is 299 Durham Regional Highway 47, also in Goodwood.

Bob’s Garage

Bob’s Garage is shown a lot in the series in the earlier seasons when Johnny is renting space in the garage. In real life it is a garage and is actually next to Cafe Tropical on the other side of Highway 47. Bob’s Garage, Rose Apothecary, and Cafe Tropical are all located at the same intersection.

Schitt’s Creek Town Hall

Schitt’s Creek Town Hall makes quite a few appearances in the season, especially since Moira is one of the council members. Town Hall is actually the Goodwood Lions Club, which is currently up for sale. You can find the Town Hall building on the same street as Cafe Tropical on the other side of Highway 47, a little past the garage.

Schitt Household

The home of Roland and Jocelyn Schitt is shown frequently throughout the series and is shown as a blue house. This is a real house in Goodwood a few doors down from Rose Apothecary and Cafe Tropical. Since it is the home of someone I do not suggest loitering outside, but I did snap this quick photo from the car.

Ted’s Veterinary Clinic

After seeing the spots in Goodwood, we drove 20 minutes to the town Whitchurch-Stouffville to see Ted’s veterinary office which is shown throughout the series. It is an actual veterinary office in real life (Thicketwood Veterinary Clinic) and also has a residential house attached to it.

Blouse Barn

The Blouse Barn is a boutique in Elmdale that David works at before opening his own store, Rose Apothecary. The building of the Blouse Barn is actually in Unionville, ON and is a pottery painting shop called Crock A Doodle. This shop is a short 5 minute drive from the veterinary office and is located in an adorable town.

I unfortunately didn’t make it to the motel that the exterior shots of Rosebud Motel were filmed at due to time restrictions. The motel is located about an hour away in Mono, ON so it is off the beaten path compared to the other locations. If I visit the Toronto area again I will probably try to make a visit to round out my Schitt’s Creek tour and see the motel. If you want to visit the Schitt’s Creek filming locations then I hope you found this recap useful! Until next time!

Thank you so much for all of this information. I plan to visit all of the places you showed above as soon as we can travel to Canada. This has been great. I binge watched Schitt’s Creek during the pandemic and was so sad when it ended. This show is what everyone needs now and it certainly gave me lots of laughs. Thanks your info is great!!

    1. Thanks for reading, Karen! Schitt’s Creek truly is a great show. It is such a good show to put on to take your mind off of things and unwind and of course to get a few good laughs. These spots were just outside of Toronto and were easy to find. If you are a fan of the show, it is definitely worth the trip!

Thanks for this info! I actually did a Gran Fondo last fall and had a rest stop right at Hwy 47 and Concession 3! I’d only watched a few episodes of Schitt’s Creek. I’m now into season 3 and really into it now. Next time, I’ll have to stop and take some photos since I’m there. Good to know what locations to look for and they’re all super close in Goodwood. If anyone is having difficulty finding a few places, I’ve included the details below:

    – Schitt Home (4130 Concession 3 Rd, just south of Hwy 47 – blue house on west side of street – as posted, be discreet as it is a private residence)
    – Schitt’s Creek Town Hall (4289 Concession 3 Rd – just north of “Bob’s Garage” on Hwy 47 east side, just south of wtrain tracks)

    1. I am so glad you found my post useful! Also, thank you for the additional details. The main spots are all within walking distance form each other so it’s an easy, quick visit for any Schitt’s Creek super-fans!

  4. Wowow! I binged watched this series during the pandemic and I so would like to visit these locations! Thanks for such an informative blog!! Loved it!

this is great! I believe there are a few other locations you missed out on while in Goodwood. The train tracks bed just north of Bobs Garage I think is where they shot the Alexis and Mutt picking up trash scene. And I think Mutts barn is just a little ways further up though not easily visible from the street also the sign used as the Town Sign is located in the area

    1. Ah Mutt’s barn! Didn’t even think of that one..good call!!
