NEUTRAL COLORS FOR SPRING

I just got back from my trip to California last night, and I have a lot of content from it coming to the blog soon. Today’s post I am detailing this outfit that is casual but stylish at the same time. While the weather in California was much warmer than it is here in Pittsburgh, it is only a matter of time before the temperatures warm up here. This outfit is getting me excited because the neutral colors are perfect for spring.

The first portion of our trip we spent in Los Angeles. We have been in California multiple times but this is the first time we have visited Los Angeles. One afternoon we spent some time walking around the city and down Hollywood Blvd (which is quite an experience to say the least.) The temperature was in the mid 60’s but the sun was shining so it was a fairly warm day. This outfit ended up being perfectly comfortable for the weather.

Prior to leaving for the trip, I spent some time shopping for new outfits. I knew for one of the days I wanted something more laid-back but of course it had to be stylish. I spotted this nude short-sleeved collared shirt at Target and liked it immediately. The shirt is sheer but I wore a nude cami underneath and it blended right in. I envisioned wearing this top with a pair of skinny white jeans but first, I had to find a new pair of white jeans. For me, they are always difficult to find because they have to have the right fit, length, rise, and have to be flattering. I ended up finding these white distressed jeggings at Target for only $27.99. The jeans are actually comfortable and flattering but they have a quality I wasn’t even looking for: they are stain-resistant!

Usually if I see something like this advertised on clothing I am skeptical. But this was proven to me unintentionally the first time I wore the jeans. While we were walking around we stopped for lunch at Shake Shack (any other Shake Shack fans out there? I love it!) and before I knew it Dr. Pepper spilled all over my jeans. Initially I was upset because who wants to walk around with soda stains on their white jeans? But it instantly repelled off and didn’t leave a single stain behind. I was amazed and now want to tell everyone I know to buy these jeans.

Since this outfit is more simple and casual, I wanted to add some accessories to make it a little more interesting. I added an olive green belt since I tucked the shirt in, and wore these olive green block heeled sandals. Both are so affordable and also from Target! I have these sandals in other colors too and I love them because they are comfortable and easy to walk in. They also are an easy way to dress up any outfit. I love statement earrings so I added a pair of green resin earrings, and to finish the outfit I added my new favorite spring bag. I recently got this bag from Banana Republic Factory and I love that it can be worn with the strap or without. My sunglasses are also from Banana Republic Factory and are a classic wayfarer style, but a really affordable alternative to Ray Bans. I feel like I am the only person on earth who looks bad in sunglasses, so I always stick with a safe wayfarer shape.

I look forward to sharing many more blog posts from my trip soon and more great spring outfits featuring neutral colors!
